Port Maria, St. Mary: A search is currently underway for 31-year-old Oshane Scott, also known as “ChinChin,” who escaped police custody at the St. Mary Parish Court on Friday morning.
Scott, a resident of Manchester Lane, Cox Street in Port Maria, was due to appear before the Port Maria Circuit Court on charges of attempted rape, larceny, assault at common law, and unlawful wounding.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reported that at around 9:05 a.m., Scott was being escorted by a police corporal from the restroom back to the holding area when he assaulted the officer. Scott then managed to flee through the main gate onto Warner Street. Despite a quick response from officers, Scott managed to evade capture.
The injured corporal was taken to Port Maria Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
Scott has been in custody since February 21, 2024, and is also wanted in connection with a threat warrant. Authorities have noted that Scott has a small tattoo on the right side of his neck.
The police are asking anyone with information on Scott’s whereabouts to contact them at 119, Crime Stop at 311, the NIB Tip Line at 811, or the nearest police station.
The search for Scott is ongoing.
