MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A 54-year-old mason from Comfort Hall has been formally charged in connection with a reported sexual assault earlier this month.
Charged is Hal Campbell, who faces allegations of rape and house-breaking with intent.
According to reports from the Mandeville Police, the incident occurred about 11:15 a.m. on February 7. Investigators allege that a woman was at her home when Campbell used a knife to gain entry to her bedroom.
Police further state that the woman was then forced into a room occupied by Campbell within the same building, where she was sexually assaulted.
The matter was subsequently reported to the authorities. Campbell was later taken into custody and charged following a question-and-answer interview conducted in the presence of his attorney.
The investigation remains ongoing.
