ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica: St Elizabeth Crash — A 59-year-old man lost his life following a three-vehicle collision on the Content main road near Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Llewlyn Johnson of Prospect district, New Baalbec, Manchester.
According to police reports, the crash occurred about 9:00 p.m. and involved a Toyota Corolla motor car, a King Long coach bus, and a Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
Investigators say the bus and the Toyota Tundra were travelling west along the Content main road while Johnson was driving the Toyota Corolla in the opposite direction.
Reports indicate that the driver of the Toyota Tundra attempted to overtake the bus and veered into the path of the oncoming Corolla, resulting in a collision. The impact caused Johnson to lose control of his vehicle, which then crashed into the right-front section of the bus.
Johnson was reportedly thrown from the Corolla during the crash. He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The fatal collision comes less than 24 hours after a baby was killed in a separate motor vehicle crash along another section of roadway in St Elizabeth.
