Manchester Man Believed to have Committed Suicide by Setting Own House on Fire

Jamaica Crime News, Manchester: A Manchester man is believed to have committed suicide on Wednesday morning, June 6, after he allegedly set his own house on fire and locked himself on the inside.

The Mandeville police who are still on the scene related that they cannot yet release the name of the deceased who is believed to be in his late sixties.

Reports are that, the elderly man who was last seen alive about 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, reportedly locked himself inside his own house which is located at Peart Road in Mandeville and set it ablaze.

Residents and family members alerted the police and the Fire Department, followed by which they attempted to put out the blaze themselves. Upon the arrival of the firefighters, the fire was put out but the board structured house and all its contents were completely destroyed.

Following a search of the burnt rubbles, the charred remains of the elderly man discovered and he was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
