A 43-year-old man who was shot by a police officer after being caught breaking into a vehicle in Montego Bay, St. James, has been charged with malicious injury to property and simple larceny.
Maurse Beldavis was charged on Tuesday, November 19, following the incident, which took place on Barnett Street on Monday night.
According to reports from the Montego Bay police, around 10:48 p.m., a policeman observed Beldavis allegedly breaking the glass of his motor vehicle and removing a bag. When the officer confronted him, Beldavis reportedly fled the scene, prompting a chase.
