Man Shot and Injured While Allegedly Attempting to Disarm Police Officer

Remains found buried under concrete identified as man missing since 2015

Jamaica Crime News, Portland: The Independent Commission of Investigation ( INDECOM) , have now launched a full investigation following the shooting and wounding of a man who allegedly attempted to disarm a police officer in Portland on Tuesday, April 24.

It has also been reported that an illegal firearm was taken from the accused.

Reports by the Port Antonio police are that about 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a team of police officers were on Patrol duties in sections of Port Antonio, when they saw the suspect acting in a suspicious manner.

He was accosted and when searched, he was found to be carrying an illegal firearm .

Further reports are that one of the lawmen was in the process of placing a handcuff on the hands of the accused when he attacked the police officer and allegedly attempted to take away his service revolver.

During the struggle, the accused man was shot and wounded.

He was later transported to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition under police guard.

Investigators have pointed out that criminal charges will be laid against the accused man in the next few days, and he is also a criminal suspect who has always been under the police radar.
