Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: The Portmore Police and members of the Narcotics Division have confirmed that the man who was arrested after being caught in possession of compressed ganja weighing over 490 pounds on Sunday, June 3, has now been officially charged.
The police further stated that, the accused has been identified as, Gaffi Daley, 34-year-old fisherman of Hellshire also in Portmore, St Catherine.
Daley is now facing charges of, Possession of, Dealing in and using Ganja for Conveyance. He has also been charged with Taking Steps Preparatory to export ganja and Conspiracy.
Reports by the Portmore Police are that on Sunday afternoon, a team of officers attached to the Narcotics Division and the Portmore Police carried out an operation along a section of the Lakes Pen main road and Municipal Boulevard.
During the operation, they stopped Daley who was driving a Toyota Noah bus and signaled him to stop. Daley complied and following a search of the vehicle, the lawmen discovered nine knitted bags containing 43 parcels of compressed ganja inside the vehicle.
Daley was taken into custody and subsequently slapped with charges. In the meanwhile, the police have related that the drug has a street value of over Jamaican $2 million.
