Man Held with Illegal Gun in Adelphi, St James
Jamaica Crime News, St James: One man who is identified as a Laborer of Caanan District in Adelphi policing area in St James was taken into custody in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition on Thursday night of July 5th.
The police have also reported that the name of the accused is being withheld as he will be placed before an identification parade.
Reports by the Adelphi police are that about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, a team of officers were on Patrol duties in Caanan District when they saw the accused acting in a suspicious manner.
One Man Taken into Custody in Connection with Seizure of Illegal Firearm and Ammunition
On seeing the police, the man ran behind a shop and the lawmen who gave chase saw him removing an object from his waistband and throwing it on the ground. He was held and the object which was retrieved was discovered to be a Taurus 9 mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with Four live 9mm rounds.
The firearm was seized and the accused transported to the Freeport lockup where we will be charged by this weekend.
