The St Catherine South police are probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in Bannister district, St Catherine, on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as O’Neil Bailey, of Pointy Heights, Bannister Housing Scheme, also in the parish.
Reports indicate that around 9:30 pm, residents alerted the police after hearing gunshots fired in the community, which adjoins Old Harbour.
Upon the arrival of the lawmen, Bailey was discovered lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police processed the scene and have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
