A man was fatally shot during a targeted police operation at Chocolate Hole in Junction, St Elizabeth, last night.
The police identified the deceased as Jahmain Brown, also known as “Dada.”
According to the police, shortly after 10 p.m., a team armed with a warrant went to Brown’s home, where he was suspected of being in possession of prohibited weapons.
The police say a man was seen on the property and, when officers called out to him, he opened fire.
The officers returned fire, hitting the man in his upper body. He reportedly fell to the ground while clutching a black handgun.
The weapon was found with three cartridges and had no serial number affixed, according to the police.
The man was later identified as the suspect named in the warrant.
He was taken to the Black River Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
