St. Andrew, Jamaica – A man was shot and killed during an alleged confrontation with police officers in the Cassia Park community of St. Andrew on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has not yet been identified.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. when law enforcement personnel from the St. Andrew Central Police and the Area 5 Fugitive Apprehension Team conducted a targeted operation at a premises in the area.
During the operation, it is alleged that the suspect attempted to flee in a Toyota motor car. Police intercepted the vehicle, leading to a reported gun battle between the suspect and the officers. The suspect was subsequently shot and killed.
A firearm was reportedly recovered from the scene.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and further details are expected to be released as they become available.
The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
