Man Fatally Shot by Police in Frazer’s Content, St Catherine

St Catherine, Jamaica – A man was shot and killed by police on Thursday night after allegedly pulling a gun on a joint police and military team during an operation in the area.

According to reports, around 10:15 p.m., a joint police and military team were conducting an operation on Frazer’s Boulevard when the man brandished a firearm and pointed it at the officers. In response, members of the security team opened fire, injuring the man. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A Glock pistol, along with a magazine containing 18 rounds of 9mm ammunition, was recovered at the scene, according to authorities.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the shooting as part of its standard protocol following such incidents.
