Man Fatally Shot by Police During Operation in Duhaney Park

ST ANDREW, Jamaica — A man was shot and killed by the police during an alleged shootout in Duhaney Park on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as David Scott, otherwise called ‘Warndem’.

According to police reports, the incident occurred sometime after 11:00 p.m. during a targeted operation on Brooks Avenue. Upon entering a housing scheme in the area, the police team reportedly came under gunfire from unknown assailants.

Law enforcement officers say they took evasive action and returned fire. Shortly after the exchange, Scott was found along a gully bank suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was transported to a medical facility, where he was pronounced dead.

Police also reported that a firearm was recovered from the scene. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
