Jamaica Crime News, Portland: Twenty-year-old Simeon Sutherland, the man who has been charged with the murder of former East Portland member of parliament, Dr Lynvale Bloomfield, was given bail in the sum of $800,000 when he appeared in the Portland Parish Court on Thursday, May 9.
As part of his bail condition, Sutherland is to report to a specific police station on weekdays and also to relocate to an undisclosed address out of the parish.
The accused man who was represented by attorney Peter Champagnie, was also given a curfew hour as part of his bail condition
Dr Lynvale Bloomfield was found with multiple stab wounds at his Portland residence on the morning of February 2.
Sutherland who hails from Buff Bay in Portland, was arrested by the Portland police on February 13, but was released a day later, on February 14.
However the result of the forensic testing which was later presented to investigators, placed him at the scene and he was again arrested and charged, this time on March 1.
Sutherland’s attorney has made an appeal to have the case moved to the home circuit court in Kingston, based on security reasons for his client and his family.
