The Kingston Central police have arrested and charged 28-year-old Damion Henry, also known as ‘Meechy,’ in connection with the fatal shooting of 48-year-old Jermaine Harding, a carpenter, along King Street, Kingston, on Friday, May 3.
According to police reports, around 11:50 pm, Harding, who also went by the nickname ‘Meechy,’ was walking along the roadway when Henry, accompanied by two other men, approached him. The group reportedly brandished handguns and fired multiple shots at Harding before fleeing the scene on foot.
Responding officers found Harding lying in a pool of blood with several gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Henry has been charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony. Following the investigation, he was apprehended and charged on Tuesday. Henry is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court at a later date.
