Portmore, Jamaica – Police have arrested a man on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition after seizing two illegal firearms and over 20 rounds of ammunition during an operation in Waterford, Portmore on Thursday.
The arrest occurred around 6:30 p.m. when officers from the St. Catherine South division executed a targeted operation in the area. The operation led to the discovery of a Glock pistol and a Beretta pistol, along with 27 rounds of nine-millimeter cartridges.
The man taken into custody now faces potential charges as the Portmore Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) has opened an investigation into the source and intended use of the seized weapons and ammunition.
This operation marks the latest in a series of efforts by law enforcement to combat illegal firearms and improve public safety in Portmore and surrounding areas. Police are urging anyone with further information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
