Man Arrested Following Firearm Seizure in Westmoreland
Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: One man was taken into custody by the Westmoreland police on Sunday, May 27, following the seizure of an illegal firearm at a section of the parish.
The police say they have withheld the identity of the accused pending further investigation.
Reports by the police are that about 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, a team of officers were carrying out operations in sections of Petersfield community.
The lawmen went to a section of the area known as Carawina where a party was being held and carried out a search of several patrons.
They carried out the search of a man who was acting in a suspicious manner and found him in possession of a Taurus 9 mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing 4 live 9mm rounds.
He was immediately arrested.
