Latest Jamaica News, Kingston (McKoy’s News): Assault Rifle Seized During Curfew – Following a curfew which was imposed in Mountain View Avenue on Saturday, January 11, the joint military forces have carried out a number of operations in the area, resulting in the seizure of a loaded M-16 assault rifle.
The police say no one has been arrested in connection with the seizure.
Reports by the police are that about 4:00 a.m., a joint military team carried out an operation at a premises in the area, and during a search of the premises they discovered a Colt M-16 assault rifle, which was fitted with a magazine containing thirty live 5.56 rounds.
The lawmen indicated that the searched which are aimed at flushing out criminals and seizing illegal firearms, will continue into this week.
Also, the curfew is slated to be lifted on Monday afternoon January 13, but the joint security forces will remain in the area, until peace and calm have been restored back to the community.
