(NME)- The rapper has been involved in a legal battle with two record labels

Lil’ Wayne has teased details of his forthcoming album ‘Tha Carter V’ after he settled lawsuits with labels Cash Money Records and Universal Music Group.

The rapper has been battling with the labels since 2015, causing a delay to the release of his long-awaited album.

Wayne sued Cash Money owners Birdman and Ronald ‘Slim’ Williams, UMG Recordings, and Universal Music Group, claiming the labels did not pay him an $8 million (£6 million) advance or a $2 million (£1.5 million) completion fee. According to The Blast, Universal paid “well over $10 million” (£7.4 million) to settle the complaint, which was reportedly dismissed out of court.

Now, Lil’ Wayne has teased the release of the record, sparking rumours that we could see the release of the album before the year is out.

“Just to let y’all know I had a meeting today, it wasn’t a long meeting,” he told the audience at the Story nightclub in Miami. “Just so y’all know the meeting was about the release date of Tha Carter fucking V.”

It’s claimed that Universal will release ‘Tha Carter V’, which marks Lil Wayne’s 12th studio album. It was recorded between 2013 and 2014 and the rapper has long said in interviews it would be his last solo album.
