Licensed Firearm Holder Who Shot and Killed Disc Jockey in St James, Charged with Murder

Latest Jamaica News (McKoy’s News) – A licensed firearm holder who fatally shot a disc jockey in Adelphi community, in St James, on Thursday, August 29,  after he allegedly attacked him with a machete, has been charged with murder.

The accused 32-year-old Andre Bennett, a mechanic of Adelphi, was formally arrested and charged with the murder of 23-year-old Toshane Peterkin, Disc Jockey of Content District, Adelphi, on Friday, September 6.

Reports by the police are that about 8:45 p.m., Peterkin and Bennett were at a shop in the community, when an argument developed between them.

Peterkin reportedly pulled a machete and chopped at the Bennett, who pulled his licensed firearm and shot him to his upper body.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, Peterkin was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, the police arrested and charged Bennett with the murder.
