St. Andews, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Lawyer Charged with Fraud: The Fraud Squad Unit of the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) Detectives have arrested and charged attorney-at-law Herbert Grant for the offences of Uttering Forged Document and Conspiracy to Defraud.
According to police report the charges stem from allegations surrounding a property purchase which began in 1986.
Allegedly the complainant contracted the services of Grant when he and his father agreed to buy a property in Rio Nuevo, St. Mary. However, after realizing that his name was not on the land title in 2016, the complainant made a report the fraud squad and the investigation commenced.
The probe revealed that the signatures of the complainant and the Instruments of Transfer (documents used during the purchase process) were forged.
Grant was offered bail with surety for J$500,000.
He is scheduled to appear before the St. Andrew Parish Court’s Criminal Division on Monday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m
