LOS ANGELES, CA – Kim Kardashian is reportedly weighing legal options to modify her custody agreement with ex-husband Kanye West, following repeated instances of him disregarding their shared legal responsibilities, sources close to the situation confirm. At the heart of the current dispute is West’s decision to release a song featuring their daughter, North, despite a prior agreement to withhold it.
The conflict stems from a recent mediation session where Kardashian, accompanied by her attorney Laura Wasser, and West, represented by Patrick DeCarolis, reached an agreement regarding a track titled “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine.” The song, which includes North rapping and a recorded phone conversation between West and Diddy, was a point of contention for Kardashian, who had expressed strong opposition to North’s involvement.
According to the divorce settlement, both parents hold equal legal custody, granting them joint decision-making authority over their children. The mediation was conducted in accordance with their agreement, which mandates a private judge attempt to resolve conflicts before further legal action. The outcome of the mediation was a clear agreement that North’s vocals would be omitted from any released version of the song.
However, over the weekend, West defied the agreement and released the track with North’s contribution. In a subsequent post on X, West asserted, “THE MAN MAKES THE FINAL DECISION,” signaling his disregard for the negotiated terms.
Sources close to Kardashian reveal that she is now seriously considering petitioning the court to strip West of joint legal custody. While physical custody is not a primary concern, as West’s visitation with their four children is reportedly infrequent, his consistent disregard for agreed-upon decisions has become a significant issue.
Kardashian has historically been supportive of her children maintaining a relationship with their father, consistently facilitating their interactions. However, there have been exceptions, such as when West held an event where attendees were encouraged to wear swastika-adorned shirts, which Kardashian deemed inappropriate for her children.
While West’s direct involvement in day-to-day decision-making for the children is reportedly limited, his repeated refusal to adhere to the terms of their legal agreement has pushed Kardashian to explore further legal avenues. The potential legal battle underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the former couple in navigating their co-parenting relationship.
