Kingston, Jamaica – Job Nelson, a journalist employed by the Jamaica Gleaner, was fatally shot by unidentified attackers on Collie Smith Drive in Trench Town on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 10:30 PM when police initially responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident in the area. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a white Honda Aria with bloodstains on the driver’s seat and along the sidewalk. Witnesses at the scene informed the police that a man, later identified as Nelson, had been injured and transported to the hospital by local residents.
Authorities quickly learned that Nelson had sustained a gunshot wound to his left chest. Despite the medical team’s efforts, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Nelson’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the journalism fraternity and the wider community. Colleagues remember him as a dedicated and passionate journalist who contributed significantly to the field through his work at the Jamaica Gleaner.
