The St. James police department has disclosed that a significant breakthrough was achieved during a joint police-military operation in Mount Salem on Thursday.
The operation led to the seizure of two rifles and the successful apprehension of a wanted man.
According to police reports, the rifles were discovered alongside four magazines. Notably, the Caribbean Search Centre and members of the Jamaica Defence Force actively participated in this operation, which targeted Katan Lane within the community.
Authorities have revealed that among the recovered magazines, three were compatible with the seized rifles, while one was specifically designed for a pistol.
The man captured has been identified as Andeno Burnett, wanted by law enforcement since last year on charges related to the possession of prohibited firearms and unauthorized ammunition.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is calling upon the public to come forward with any information that could aid in their ongoing efforts to combat crime. They can reach out to Crime Stop at 311, police emergency services at 119, the NIB Tip Line at 811, or visit their nearest police station.
