The family of Rohan Noel Malcolm, a Jamaican national and former employee of the Jamaica Observer, has launched a GoFundMe campaign following his tragic death at the hands of his wife, Denise Malcolm, in Coral Springs, Florida.
The fatal shooting occurred on August 31, 2024, inside their home, with one of the couple’s 14-year-old twin sons reportedly witnessing the incident and alerting authorities.

Police found Malcolm, 49, shot to death inside the residence, with a firearm recovered at the scene. His wife, Denise Malcolm, 45, has since been charged with premeditated murder and is being held without bail. The motive behind the shooting has not been made public, and investigations are ongoing .
In the wake of the tragedy, Malcolm’s family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise US$25,000 (J$3.8 million) to cover funeral expenses and provide financial support for his surviving children. The campaign appeals for contributions to help ease the financial burden on the family during this heartbreaking time. So far, the campaign has seen a steady flow of donations from friends, relatives, and community members.
The funeral for Malcolm is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
