Jamaican Criminals’ Fake Immortality

It is a well-known fact that crime in Jamaica has gone to an uncontrollable level. Gangs are a common thing to hear about in the country whether on a small-scale or large-scale basis. There are gangs that are well known across the entire island, and there are also some that are known only on their streets. Whatever the case may be, gangster life is a lifestyle that many youths end up leading in the country.

At the rate at which gangs grow in Jamaica, and the number of people who are part of gangs, or get recruited to gangs, or who have even attempted to form a gang of their own, it would be expected that the politics behind gang life is common knowledge. For one, if a person is part of a gang, there are likely many people after that person. This could be people who are part of the same crew, people of different gangs, police, or even just regular citizens who have been wronged by them.

Additionally, since there are people after those individuals, they should be in hiding. At least that’s what regular law-abiding folk would think. If I am being hunted, I run, or I hide. But gangsters seem to have a different idea. This may be because they feel that they are untouchable, they overestimate the power of their name, or they have simply dodged death on so many occasions that they start to believe they are immortal.

Or, approaching it from another perspective, they have so much faith in their beliefs that they know they are untouchable. And the irony behind it all is that they rarely ever have to face the truth. And by rare, I do not mean that they do not get killed. What I mean is that their death is often so quick that they only have to accept their fate for a few minutes, if that long. Think about it: a man is being preyed on by people who are technically always in proximity to him since Jamaica is so small, and he manages to live for years and continue to kill others. When he is finally caught, his death sentence may be a bullet wound to the head, and in some cases, it won’t be the head, but 10 bullet wounds to his torso. He is left with those 7 seconds to suffer.

Now, if the theory is true that a person has 7 seconds while dying to reflect on their life, then they may have eventually faced the truth. Unfortunately, this is unconfirmable until we ourselves get to that point. But for now, we approach the situation as if when a person dies, they just die.. Or they go to Heaven or hell.

Either way, they live so long until they die. They never really face their mistakes unless they were contemplating their death and lifestyle beforehand. For example. Nevardo Hodges, “heartless” criminal who regretted all his life choices in the year leading up to his demise.

I say all of this only as a preamble to the story behind the death of Bun Man, the leader of the One Order Gang. A death that you will read about here.
