Jamaicans are being urged to the expected increase in heat stress as a result of high temperatures expected to hit the country from the next two months.  The Meteorological Service of Jamaica says above normal temperatures and reduced wet days are expected for the Summer period.

The heat stress is expected to affect humans, animals and crops as well as reduced inflows in reservoirs and dams.

Many drivers in Kingston reported 38 and 39 degrees Celsius recorded on their car’s outside thermometer readings today, which was between the hours 11:30 AM and 1 PM.

According to the Met Service, a weak El Nino system will contribute to the above normal temperatures and low rainfall.  It says the projections are based on findings from seasonal climate forecast models which
