A high volume manhunt is presently being conducted by the St Elizabeth police to apprehend several prisoner, who managed to escape custody at the Black River police lock up, in Black River, St Elizabeth, this morning.
The police say it was discovered during checks on Monday morning, that at least eight prisoners escaped custody.
Reports are that about 4:00am, a station guard was conducting regular routine checks of the cells, when he discovered that the the men in that particular cell had managed to cut their way through a ventilation system, and made good their escaped.
An emergency meeting was immediately called following the discovery, and a manhunt launched in a bid to capture the men.
