The St. James police have reported that the 14-year-old Irwin High School student who fatally stabbed another 15-year-old student at the institution in Montego Bay last Thursday afternoon has been officially charged with murder.
The teenage boy, Javon Myrie, of a Tucker Irwin address, was charged in the presence of his attorney on Wednesday afternoon with the murder of deceased Raniel Plummer, a student of Point district in Spring Mount, St. James.
Reports indicate that a confrontation between the two students began while they were at Irwin High School on Wednesday. The incident escalated on Thursday during the lunch period, leading Raniel to report the matter to the school coordinator.
Shortly after school, the accused and a group of other male students confronted Raniel, hitting him in the face. Despite attempting to walk away, Raniel was stabbed in the chest allegedly by Javon.
He was rushed to Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
