St Ann, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Human Trafficking Investigation: The St. Ann police have said that the 15-year-old girl who was reported missing and found last week during an operation on Port Henderson Road popularly known as “Back Road” in Portmore, St. Catherine had been reported missing on another occasion.
Investigators are probing whether she and another 15-year-old girl are victims of human trafficking.
Superintendent Gary Francis, head of the St. Ann police, said on Monday morning that the teen had been reported missing in June, but later returned home. She then went missing again a few days before she was found in the Port Henderson Road.
Reports are that the two teenagers met a man on social media who promised them summer jobs.
The man, who was at the property where the girls were found on “Back Road”, was taken into custody during the operation.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Francis is appealing to parents and guardians to show their children more affection.
He believes showing children more love and using proper “methods of socialisation” will encourage children to stay home.
