A family in Harbour View is appealing for urgent blood donations after a 13-year-old girl was critically injured during a stabbing incident at her home over the weekend.
The teenager, identified as Kemelia Paul, a student of Excelsior High School, remains hospitalized following the violent attack, which reportedly occurred in Bayshore Park on Saturday night.
Police reports indicate that about 9:00 p.m., 29-year-old Kemar Mitchell went to the residence to speak with the mother of his child. Investigators say an argument developed after Mitchell allegedly began using expletives while standing on the verandah.
The situation reportedly escalated after the woman’s mother intervened and asked him to leave the property. A physical confrontation later followed.
According to investigators, the 13-year-old girl and another relative attempted to calm the dispute when Mitchell allegedly removed a knife from his waistband and stabbed the teen in the stomach.
The accused reportedly fled the area before police arrived. The injured child was rushed to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The child’s mother is now calling for justice while pleading with members of the public to assist with blood donations for her daughter.
Persons willing to donate blood are being encouraged to visit the Blood Bank located at 21 Slipe Pen Road in Kingston.
