Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: One man who allegedly confronted members of a police party in a shootout in Portmore, St Catherine on Thursday afternoon was fatally shot, and a illegal firearm taken from him.
Up to news time the gunman still remains unidentified.
Reports reaching our news room are that on Thursday, February 21, a team of officers attached to the Portmore station were carrying out patrol duties along a section of Holland Dale in Passage Fort, Portmore when they saw the man acting in a suspicious manner.
The man was approached and he allegedly opened fire on the police. The fire was returned and gunman was shot.
A 9-mm semi automatic pistol fitted with a magazine containing nine live rounds was taken from him.
