MONTEGO BAY, St James (McKoy’s News) — Dancehall star Govana brought the house down at Reggae Sumfest 2025 on Saturday night — not just with his high-energy performance, but with a heartwarming gesture to his mother that left the crowd emotional and cheering.
The deejay, dressed in a sleek white pilot-style suit, was in the middle of his set at Catherine Hall when he invited his mother, Sonia Eccleston, onto the stage. With the packed venue watching, Govana handed her the keys to a brand-new Honda CR‑V, fulfilling a promise he said he made to her a year ago.
On the big screens behind them, the words “Never failed the mission, Mommy” flashed as his mother tearfully accepted the surprise gift.
“Yuh tell mi seh yuh want a CR‑V, mummy… When yuh reach back ah town, yah go drive out yuh van… Love you like life,” Govana said to her, as the audience erupted in applause.
His mother responded proudly, hugging him and saying:
“Mi raise yuh good!”
The emotional moment became one of the most talked-about highlights of Festival Night Two. Govana, who hails from Spanish Town, also delivered crowd favorites like “Bake Bean,” “Champ,” and “Four Storey,” blending his usual commanding stage presence with an unforgettable personal tribute.
Govana’s touching gift underscored his message of gratitude, humility, and love for family — showing that even in the heights of stardom, his roots remain close to his heart
