CLARENDON, Jamaica — Garvey Maceo High School student Rishane Roberts died on Sunday after he was reportedly electrocuted at his home in Gimme-Me-Bit, Clarendon.
Reports are that about 9:00 a.m., Roberts was on the roof of a shop at his home using an iron pipe to pick coconuts when the pipe became entangled in an overhead electrical wire.
The contact reportedly sent an electrical current through the pipe, resulting in Roberts being electrocuted.
His mother, who heard a commotion outside, rushed to investigate and found her son on the roof. She reportedly pulled him down and rushed him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are investigating the incident as death by misadventure.
