Ganja Trafficking Boat Seized

Westmoreland, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Ganja Trafficking Boat Seized: A grey 30-foot vessel fitted with two Yamaha engines was seized by members of the Narcotics Division in Belmont District, Westmoreland on Tuesday, February 13.

A special operation was carried out by the police on Tuesday morning which resulted in the boat being found at premises in the Belmont area.

The police surmised that the boat is connected with a seizure that was made in early February where over  1,000 pounds of ganja was seized in Sweet River, Westmoreland on February 6. During the seizure, four Costa Ricans along with seven other persons were held.

The offenders have all been charged with several breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act and the  Costa Ricans have been additionally charged with Illegal Entry.

They are booked to return to the Westmoreland Parish Court on March 13.
