After years of eluding authorities, 41-year-old Dwayne “Cojack” Christie, one of St Ann’s most notorious fugitives, has finally surrendered to police and now faces murder and firearm charges linked to a 2016 Davis Town shooting
Christie surrendered to police on Sunday, September 21, accompanied by his attorney. On Monday, he was formally charged with murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition. His court date is being finalized.
Deadly Shop Dispute
The charges relate to the September 16, 2016 killing of Ronald Gayle. Reports say Christie and Gayle were at a shop in Davis Town when a verbal argument escalated into a fight. Christie allegedly left the scene and returned with a gun, fatally shooting Gayle.
Following the incident, Christie was placed on the police most-wanted list and remained at large until his recent surrender.
Authorities describe the arrest as a major breakthrough in a long-standing case that has haunted the Davis Town community for years.
