A woman who allegedly fled to Jamaica after a fatal shooting in Canada has been brought back to face justice.
Debbie Jones, 43, was extradited from Kingston on Friday and is now in Canadian custody, charged with second-degree murder in the 2024 killing of Anthony McBean.
Toronto Police Service say McBean, 42, was gunned down during an early-morning shooting at a plaza near Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West in North York on September 30, 2024.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 7:30 a.m. and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide investigators later identified two suspects and, in November 2024, released their names and photos to the public. Authorities believed both individuals had escaped to Jamaica.
Jones has now been returned to Canada where she was formally arrested and charged. She was scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom for a bail hearing on Saturday.
Second Suspect Still at Large
Police say a second suspect, Ricardo Manuel Bailey, 37, remains wanted for second-degree murder and is also believed to to be in Jamaica.
Bailey is described as slimly built with a shaved head.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about the killing to contact the Homicide Unit at 416-808-7400 or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
The case remains under active investigation.
