Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Jamaica’s Fitz Bailey has been officially appointed as the Commissioner of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF). The announcement was made on Thursday by the Governor’s Office, confirming his appointment for a three-year term.
The decision follows a comprehensive recruitment process that included interviews conducted by a Governor-chaired panel, input from a separate community panel, and consultation with Premier Charles Misick.
Bailey, who joined the RTCIPF as Deputy Commissioner in October 2024, assumed the role of Acting Commissioner six weeks later, following the resignation of Edvin Martin.
Prior to his tenure in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Bailey served with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) for over 40 years, retiring at the rank of Deputy Commissioner in charge of crime and security.
His extensive law enforcement experience spans a wide range of areas, including counter-terrorism, organized crime, intelligence, financial fraud, and community-based policing initiatives.
The Governor’s Office statement highlighted Bailey’s qualifications and experience as key factors in his appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the RTCIPF.
