St. Elizabeth, Jamaica — The St. Elizabeth Police have seized a Smith & Wesson pistol, along with a magazine containing ten rounds of ammunition, during an operation in New Market on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
According to official reports, the incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. when law enforcement officers were conducting routine spot checks in the area. During the operation, a motor vehicle was signaled to stop, and the driver complied. A thorough search of the vehicle was conducted, which led to the discovery of the firearm hidden inside the console of the car.
Three men, who were in the vehicle at the time, were taken into police custody in connection with the firearm seizure. Their identities are being withheld as investigations into the matter continue.
The police are expected to release more information as the case progresses. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they intensify efforts to combat illegal firearm possession in the parish.
