Fire at Retirement Dump

Jamaica News, St James: The Jamaica Environment Trust has joined calls for the government to take urgent action to bring the fire at Retirement Dump in St James under control.
The agency says the blaze at Retirement point to the larger issue of inadequate management of Jamaica’s licensed disposal sites.
Councillor for the Granville Division Michael Troupe claimed that people were getting sick from the fumes and called on the local government Minister Desmond McKenzie to take action.
According to the Councillor, the dump has been on fire for four days.
