Jamaica Crime News, Trelawny: A woman who was arrested and charged on Sunday, June 17, in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm and a quantity of ganja at a People’s National Party meeting, which was being held at the Falmouth All Age School, has now been slapped with charges.
She has been identified as, Shashana Campbell, 33-year-old unemployed of Hague Settlement also in the parish. It is reported that on Sunday, a team of officers were on Patrol in Falmouth area when they went to a People’s National Party political meeting, which was being held at the Falmouth All Age School in Trelawny.
Upon reaching the location, they saw Campbell who was about to enter the meeting and demanded a search of her handbag. Campbell quickly handed the handbag to one of the police officers and ran. The police gave chase and Campbell was held and brought back to the location.
The bag was searched in her presence and found to contain a .9mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing 10 live rounds. A parcel which contained ganja was also found in the handbag.
The accused woman was questioned in the presence of her lawyer on Tuesday evening and charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition. She was also charged with Possession of and Dealing in Ganja and will appear in the Western Regional Gun Court on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
