A man from the Corporate Area has been ordered to pay nearly $20,000 in compensation to his ex-girlfriend for injuries she sustained during a violent altercation after she refused to engage in sexual intercourse. The incident occurred after the woman declined the accused’s advances, citing that she was menstruating.
The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the complainant. According to court allegations, the man physically assaulted the complainant by punching her repeatedly after she refused his demand for sex.
The accused appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, where he agreed to participate in on-the-spot mediation in an attempt to resolve the matter amicably. As part of the mediation agreement, he is required to pay $18,500 in two instalments as compensation for the injuries inflicted upon his ex-girlfriend.
Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell issued a stern warning to the defendant, advising him to respect the complainant’s wishes and move on from the relationship. “Please leave the people’s daughter alone. The relationship is over,” Judge Burrell stated.
The defendant is scheduled to return to court on November 8 for a follow-up on the case.
