A Manchester-based farmer is now facing charges after being accused of defrauding a woman in connection with a purported visa arrangement.
The accused, 72-year-old Paul Suckie, also known as “Shacka,” resides on Egret Drive in Mandeville. He has been charged with obtaining money by false pretence following a police investigation into the matter.
According to reports, the alleged incident occurred over a three-month period between April and June 2024. During that time, Suckie is said to have received a total of $150,000 from a woman, claiming he could assist her in securing a United States visa.
Investigators state that after making the payments, the complainant became suspicious when she received inconsistent explanations regarding the status of her application. The visa was never delivered.
The matter was subsequently reported to the authorities, leading to a probe by law enforcement.
On Wednesday, March 25, officers carried out an operation that resulted in Suckie’s arrest. Following an interview, he was formally charged in relation to the allegations.
