Portland, Jamaica — Detectives from the Portland Police Division have charged eight individuals in connection with the murder of 50-year-old Orlando Louden, who was killed at his home in Bamboo Tree Lane, Fairy Hill district, on August 7.
The charges come after weeks of intense investigation by law enforcement authorities.
Three of the individuals have been charged with murder. They are 31-year-old Shane Phillips, also known as ‘Taliban’; 19-year-old Dominique Perkins, known as ‘Kentay’; and 18-year-old Raheem Dixon, referred to as ‘Squidly.’ These suspects are from addresses in St. Andrew and St. Catherine.
In addition to the murder charges, five more individuals, including a teenage boy, have been charged with conspiracy to murder. These individuals are 30-year-old taxi operator Xavier Carty; 21-year-old landscaper Chad Hylton; 19-year-old blockmaker Fabian McIntosh; 19-year-old Caavan Jacobs; and a 17-year-old boy from Mannings Hill Road, Kingston 8.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m. on August 7, when Louden was at his home and was approached by two armed men who shot him multiple times. The perpetrators attempted to flee the scene, but the Portland Police quickly intercepted three vehicles on the Passley main road shortly after the shooting. The occupants of these vehicles were arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.
Subsequent searches of one of the motor vehicles involved in the escape attempt led to the discovery and seizure of two firearms. This evidence played a crucial role in the investigation.
Following comprehensive interviews and thorough inquiries, detectives laid charges of murder and conspiracy to murder against the eight suspects. Their court dates are currently being arranged.
