Police in Manchester made a bold move early Tuesday morning, detaining eight individuals in connection with lottery scamming and the unlawful possession of ammunition, authorities confirmed.
Deputy Superintendent Luhas Daniels, Operations Officer for Manchester, said the operation ran from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and targeted several districts in the parish, including Top Hill near Christiana, Greenvale, Mike Town, and Hatfield.
“During the operation in the Manchester division, eight persons were taken into custody,” Daniels told McKoy’s News. “Two have been charged for breaches of the Law Reform Act, while one faces charges for unlawful possession of ammunition.”
Police said the confiscated ammunition included:
- 11 rounds of 5.56
- 2 rounds of .380
- 7 rounds of 9mm cartridges
Authorities have vowed to continue the crackdown on illegal gambling operations and firearm-related offenses in the parish.
