Detectives attached to the Freeport CIB Department have now launched an investigation into the death of a senior ranking officer who is believed to have committed suicide at his home in Montego Bay, St James on Friday evening , July 20th.
The deceased has been identified as Dermoth Lawrence, Senior Superintendent of Police in Charge of Administration at the Area One Headquarters in Montego Bay.
Reports are that shortly after 7:30 pm, a close friend of the top cop went to his home in Mango Walk and discovered him hanging from a length of rope, which was tied around his neck and suspended from a roof section of his house.
Our news team also learnt that recently Superintendent Lawrence has been experiencing problems and moved from his family home in Bogue to another house in Mango Walk.
It is also reported that on Thursday an incident arose , where gunshots were heard coming from the directions of the Senior Superintendent”s home in Mango Walk.
A team of officers rushed to the location to investigate , the superintendent informed the officers that he had accidentally discharged his weapon.
Senior Superintendent Lawrence served most of his years at the Hanover Division where he quickly moved up into rank and then transfered to St James.
