  Dear McKoy: 16 Pregnant, Confused and Suicidal [ Mckoy’s News] I am a 16-year-old girl who is getting ready to go back to school tomorrow. The problem is that over the summer holiday I gave in to pressure to engage in sexual activities. I had never been intimate with anyone and I have always been focused on my education. After missing my period, I went to a Pharmacy and did a test to know if i was pregnant.  The test then confirmed my worst fear.

I’d like to be able to tell my mom but I know that I’ll break her heart. My mom works really hard to provide for us and I had promised her that I’ll take a different course from the one my older sisters took. I most definitely can’t tell my father that I am pregnant as he would kill me. Right now I am so confused and hopeless that I am having suicidal thoughts. I need your help. I don’t know what to do or how I am going to live. My friends want me to keep the baby but how can I? My parents can’t find out that I am pregnant.

I can understand that you are scared of the possible outcomes of having your baby. While it is a personal decision, we’d strongly recommend that you have a sit down with your mother so she can help.
