A 24-year-old Cuban national who received major burns after a cooking gas exploded and caught his house on fire in Mt. Salem, St. James, on Wednesday, remains at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in serious condition.
Reports are that at about 7:30 pm, the Cuban national was at home on Vernons Drive, Mount Salem, when a cooking gas exploded, resulting in the house catching fire.
The occupant received major burns to his upper and lower body and was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated and admitted in serious condition.
The fire department was summoned, and upon arrival, they managed to put out the blaze, which damaged sections of the house and its contents.
