ST JAMES, Jamaica — Several people, including an infant, were injured in a three-vehicle collision along the Rose Hall main road on Friday.
The child was one of eight passengers travelling in a Toyota Noah that was operating as a public passenger vehicle at the time of the crash. Reports indicate the infant was ejected from the vehicle on impact and was later rushed to hospital. The child’s condition has not yet been confirmed.
The driver of the Toyota Noah and seven other occupants were also taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released updates regarding their medical status.
Four additional victims were transported to hospital following the incident — two who had been travelling in a Toyota Fielder and two from a Mazda Demio involved in the collision.
Most of the injured were assisted to medical facilities by members of the public before emergency crews arrived.
Personnel from the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the Jamaica Constabulary Force responded to the scene and are managing the ongoing investigation.
