Trelawny, Jamaica — A coordinated early-morning police operation in Wait-A-Bit, Trelawny, resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit US currency, along with a firearm and ammunition on Tuesday.
According to reports from the Falmouth Police, officers from the Trelawny Police Division conducted targeted searches under warrants issued pursuant to the Law Reform and Firearm Acts. The operation was led by Superintendent Velonique Campbell, who commands the division.
During one of the searches, law enforcement personnel recovered a Smith and Wesson Springfield firearm fitted with a magazine containing a single 9mm round. Investigators also discovered counterfeit notes totaling USD $195,000 at the location.
A man and a woman were taken into custody in connection with the find. Their identities have not been released pending further investigations.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force said the operation forms part of its ongoing efforts to disrupt illegal weapons networks and protect communities through sustained enforcement activities and cooperation with residents.
